Nestled in a beautiful valley, the city of Caracas is a busy metropolis famous for its delicious food, its cultural diversity, and perfect climate, thanks to the unique combination of a high elevation and proximity to the Caribbean Sea. The Plaza Bolivar is a central square named after him, and is a great place to walk around and explore.

Museo de Arte Contemporaneo

Museo de Arte Contemporaneo is considered to be one of the best fine arts museums in South America, and it’s a unique cultural experience to visit. Housing works by famous artists such as Picasso, Miro, Matisse, and more. Another important museum is the Galería de Arte Nacional, a museum that features Venezuelan historical art. Over 4000 pieces are on display, and it also shares a building with the Museo de Bellas Artes, which has art exhibits from all over the world.

Avila National Park

One very popular thing to do while in Caracas is visit Avila National Park and go take the cable car to the top of Avila, a mountain to the north of Caracas. It’s the perfect place for a breath of fresh air, some gorgeous natural surroundings, and the best views of Caracas available. There are also many parks in Caracas that provide a similar relaxing experience. The Parque del Este is a favorite, and it features a planetarium and a small zoo on the grounds. The Jardin Botanico was created in 1944 and houses over 2000 species of plants.
